A few Physiotherapy FAQs

If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Q: Is physiotherapy covered by my insurance?
A: It depends on the type of coverage that you have. It is best to call the provider and ask for this information as all health plans are different.

Q: Is Physiotherapy covered by OHIP?
A: Soleil Vitality Clinic is not an OHIP clinic. As of April 2005, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care only provides OHIP coverage for people under 19 or over 65 years of age, and only at one of the few designated OHIP-funded clinics in the province.

Q: Do I need a doctor’s referral?
A: You do not need a referral to come for physiotherapy as physiotherapists are considered primary health care providers. However, if you have a health plan and wish to use the coverage, it is best to find out whether your provider requires a referral in order to activate your coverage.

Q: Will you discuss my file with my doctor, insurance provider or other professionals?
A: Only with your permission, can your physiotherapist discuss their clinical findings with your doctor and/or other members on your health care team.

Q: Are you a registered physiotherapist?
A: Yes. My registration number will be recorded on your receipts.

Q: How does payment work?
A: Each session is paid for upon completion and then you are responsible for submitting your receipts to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: A comprehensive physiotherapy assessment must be performed in order to determine the approximate number of treatments that will be required.
